British backpacker, 28, raped and murdered in Goa had her face severely mutilated with a stone, court hears as man, 23, stands trial for killing her

Danielle McLaughlin, 28, from Buncrana, Ireland, had been travelling in southern India when she was raped and murdered and her body dumped on an isolated road in Goa in March 2017. Vikat Bhagat, 23,  has been charged with her rape and murder, as well as theft and destruction of evidence after allegedly confessing to the crime.
